Dietary supplement (PARNUT) for dogs and cats for the reduction of acute intestinal malabsorption during acute diarrhea and subsequent recovery periods. Assigned in case of: - diarrhea - acute intestinal absorption disorders SWEET CERATONIA OR SWEET BEAN TREE (CERATONIA SILIQUA L.) is an evergreen tree of the legume family that grows in arid and semi-arid regions of the Mediterranean basin. Despite their high sugar content, their pods are rich in insoluble fiber and micronutrients, including phenolic compounds, inositols (mainly d-pinitol) and vitamins. (Aristea Gioxari 1, 2022) YANG®: This is a blend of inactivated yeasts, specifically Saccharomyces cerevisiae (commonly known as brewer's yeast) and Cyberlindnera jadinii. Yeasts are unicellular eukaryotic organisms that belong to the fungi kingdom. Brewer's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) is particularly used in animal nutrition due to its nutritional value, as it is rich in valuable macronutrients such as protein, as well as micronutrients such as selenium and chromium, B vitamins and many other substances beneficial to health. This effect is primarily due to the abundance of nutrients. Cyberlindnera jadinii is also a widely used yeast for its nutritional value as it is also rich in protein and vitamins. PSYLLIUM SEED HUSK POWDER Plantain is an annual herb native to the Mediterranean region. The seeds of this plant are used, mainly the skin or husk, which is especially rich in fiber. Dietary fiber is known to help normalize colonic motility and transit time, support normal growth of gastrointestinal tract microflora, and supply colonocytes with food and energy. (J.C. Alves1, 2021) Soluble fiber used in a regular diet is also known to improve the consistency of stools, as this fiber has a high ability to attract water into the lumen of the intestine, forming a gel in contact with it. Soluble fiber can also affect the composition of the intestinal microflora and the surface of the colon, increasing the absorption capacity. Microflora can also ferment this type of fiber, producing volatile fatty acids that promote colonocyte regeneration, improving the recovery phase after diarrhea. (Wakshlag J, 2011) Psyllium husks are mixed fibers, i.e. i.e. source of soluble and insoluble, and it is for this reason that they are widely used in supplementary feeding of domestic animals, primarily to achieve a positive effect on the intestine. RED ELM BARK POWDER (ULMUS RUBRA) Red elm (Ulmus rubra) is a tree that grows in the central and eastern United States. It is traditionally used by Native Americans for its beneficial effects on the digestive tract due to the soothing effect of the bark's mucilage. ZINC OXIDE Zinc is a pro-antioxidant trace element necessary for the formation, development and maintenance of the immune system. In the digestive system, zinc plays an important role in maintaining mucosal barrier integrity and enterocyte enzymatic activity, and directly affects ion channels. Studies in animal models have shown that chronic zinc deficiency alters the composition and function of the gut microbiota. Therefore, given the many biological functions of zinc in the gastrointestinal tract, its use during episodes of diarrhea is appropriate. (Muheet, 2018) CITRUS PECTIN Pectin is a dietary fiber, one of the most important components of nutrition. Pectins are a structurally heterogeneous group of soluble dietary fibers rich in galacturonic acid (Gala). They have a wide range of action, especially in the digestive tract. Due to their emulsifying and gelatinizing properties, they are widely used in the food industry as stabilizers and thickeners. In terms of health, they are characterized by antioxidant, cytoprotective, immunomodulating, blood cholesterol-lowering, hypoglycemic, prebiotic and other effects, which makes them a promising basis for various functional food products. BENTONITE - MONTMORILLONITE Bentonite is a type of phyllosilicate clay with absorbent properties. Its name comes from Fort Benton, Wyoming, where its main springs are located. It is also known as montmorillonite clay, a name derived from the region of France called Montmorillon, where it was first found. When it comes into contact with water, it forms a paste that has been used both externally and internally by many cultures since ancient times to support the health of the body. Bentonite has been shown to have cleansing properties due to its polycationic chemical nature, which results in the absorption of negatively charged toxins. In addition, some studies show that bentonite clay can help with the absorption of nutrients by increasing the activity of the intestinal flora. (Alessia Candellone 1, 2020) Redwood (Schinopsis lorentzii) or KEBRACH CONDENSED TANNINS EXTRACT Tannins are a class of chemical compounds produced by various types of plants to protect themselves from external aggression. In fact, their bitterness and astringent taste repel animals that try to feed on the plant and its fruit. Tannins are divided into two categories: 1) Condensed tannins: oligomers and polymers of flavan-3-ols, also called proanthocyanidins, because anthocyanidin is released from them during hot acid hydrolysis, which gave rise to their specific name; 2) Hydrolyzable tannins: consist of a sugar, usually glucose, esterified with ellagic acid or gallic acid, from which they are called ellagitannins and gallotannins, respectively. They have antioxidant properties, but some studies have shown that they also have a cytoprotective effect on intestinal epithelial cells and inhibit the growth of E. Coli bacteria in the intestine. (Serena Reggie, 2020) During acute diarrhea, water is the most important nutrient because of the potential for dehydration due to excessive fluid and electrolyte loss. For this reason, it is very important that the animal receives plenty of water to replace lost fluids. The inclusion of high-concentration electrolytes such as sodium and potassium becomes equally important. Electrolytes are actually important regulators of water balance, controlling the flow of fluid into and out of cells. Lactoadapt STOP contains sodium chloride, potassium chloride and potassium phosphate to ensure replenishment of these electrolytes. DEXTROSE, more commonly called glucose, in the product composition complements the properties of the product. Dextrose is a simple sugar and is therefore an easily digestible carbohydrate. It is useful in acute diarrhea due to its energizing and refreshing effect. 2 g tablet contains: Dextrose 650 mg Sweet bean flour 125 mg Inactivated yeast products of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Cyberlindnera 80 mg Psyllium seed husks 225 mg Red elm (Ulmus rubra) 10 mg Citrus pectin 100 mg Sodium chloride 100 mg Potassium chloride 38 mg Potassium sulfate 6 mg Daily dose - 0-10 kg - ½ tablet/ twice a day - 10-20 kg - 1 tablet/ twice a day - 20-30 kg - 2 tablets / twice a day - over 30 kg - 3 tablets twice a day Recommended period of use: from 1 to 7 days. Warnings: It is recommended to consult a veterinarian before use. Packaging: LactoAdapt STOP® Dietary supplementary feed for dogs and cats, intended for the reduction of acute intestinal absorption disorders, during acute diarrhea and during the subsequent recovery period, 6 tab. after 2 years
